Sydney Plumbing Emergencies often happen late at night, early in the morning or on a weekend/public holiday? These problems always seem to come at the worst possible time. For this reason, there are often plumbers who will take advantage and advertise rates that are often too good to be true in the hope you book them in and then, once
locked in, jack the prices up, usually 2-5 times the regular rate.

For all Sydney plumbing emergencies, we charge a flat fee between $250 - $350 + GST, which covers the after-hours call out to your door and will usually cover the minimum costs associated with making the property safe as this is our number one priority. Once onsite, you will never pay any extra rates for after-hours services. From midday to
midnight, the rate you pay will stay the same as if the works were done during regular operating hours.

The best way to find the plumber is through a trusted referral; often, it is best to engage a Sydney plumber with whom someone you know already has been involved with and has used. If you do not know a trusted local plumber, the next best thing you can do is check their credentials and do research online and check their reviews.
Online reviews are a great way to gauge if a plumber's previous clients were satisfied with the quality of their products and services, check out Proximity plumbing reviews.

Furthermore, evaluate only plumbers who can deliver proof of insurance and business registry. In some circumstances, you can also ask the plumber how long he has been in the plumbing industry. The more experience the plumber or company has - the better the service usually is.

Our top tip is to check their Google reviews! If a person you trust can recommend a local Sydney plumber they have used in the past, it's a clear indication if the plumber is reliable and worth engaging. Typically a paying customer pays close attention to costs, the quality of the service, and the value they receive and often will go out of their way to share their experience with a local plumber in Sydney.

If you’re suddenly in need of a professional plumber, your next thought may be “how much do plumbers charge?” And it’s a fair question - we’ve all heard the horror stories of plumbers ripping off clients left, right and center.

How Much Do Plumbers Charge?

It is one of the most asked questions in the industry. How much do plumbers charge in Sydney Australia? The answer is: It depends on the company and the service. “Plumbing” is a very general term and covers all things from replacement washers and burst Flexi hoses to a full pipe relining job. Different plumbers will structure their quotes differently, but here’s something to be wary of: super cheap and overly “easy” quotes.

Proximity Plumbing does not have an hourly rate; we charge by the job. Although this does not appeal to everyone, we have found this is the most transparent way to conduct business. When it comes to plumbing, every job is different. That is why you are calling us in to fix it. We often find we need to see the problem before letting you know how much it will cost to fix it. That is why we offer the complimentary call out, and once we are on-site, we can determine what the job will cost. Each type of job has an upfront fixed price, and we need to determine what that is by conducting a thorough inspection.

So here are 5 times when DIY is not your friend and it’s time to call a professional plumber:

1. In an emergency situation

When it comes to plumbing jobs, the simpler the job is, the cheaper it will be. Conversely, the more complicated a job is, the more costly it will become.

Sydney is home to a vast number of highly skilled local plumbers so the cost range of services will reflect this. Because the market is competitive for tradies, Sydney consumers should do their due diligence to make sure they are choosing the right plumbing professional for the job when comparing plumbing costs.

More specialised jobs require more specialised plumbers, so these jobs will be more costly. This occurs because they require more training and additional conditions on their licence.

The short answer is: no, here’s why: just like seeing a doctor, a doctor cannot examine you or diagnose you over the phone without a personal examination; its much the same with plumbing, its best we investigate the issue first before providing you with a solution and a price.

We do this by offering a $0 call-out fee on all jobs, once onsite and have investigated the issue we can then provide a solution moving forward, if approved we will carry out the work, if not there is no obligation - you can find out more about our pricing and the reason why we don't like to provide prices over the phone our pricing page: https://proximityplumbing.com.au/plumbing-prices/

Unfortunately, too many plumbers will give quotes over the phone. This is entirely unprofessional and no more than a marketing ploy to entice you to engage them to solve your problem. Would you expect a doctor to diagnose a medical condition over the phone? It's easier to diagnose a medical issue over the phone than a plumbing problem, but no doctor will do so without first examining you.
